OUR STORY

Ikigai Authentic Clo. is the result of constant search for purpose of both founders, Shane, and Jan. They always loved the idea of having something special to contribute to this world and to always do what they love and enjoy doing. After multiple attempts and failure to do something for themselves, they finally found their Ikigai.

Ikigai is a term that derives from two Japanese words: iki meaning “life; alive” and kai meaning “result; worth; benefit”.

It is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being". The word refers to having a direction or purpose in life, that which makes one's life worthwhile.

THE MOVEMENT

The concept of Ikigai as a purpose in life with both personal and social dimensions is demonstrated by the well-known ikigai diagram. The diagram includes overlapping spheres addressing what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.

We believe that you have found your ikigai when the thing that you do most cover these four elements:

1. LOVE - The thing you do or want to do brings you the most joy in life and make you feel alive and fulfilled.
2. GOOD AT - It is anything you are particularly good at, such as skills you have learned, hobbies you have pursued, talents you have shown since an early age, etc.
3. WORLD NEEDS IT - The “world” here might be humanity as a whole, a small community you are in touch with, or anything in between. What the world needs might be based on your impressions or needs expressed by others. 
4. PAID FOR - This dimension of the diagram also refers to the world or society at large, in that it involves what someone else is willing to pay you for or “what the market will bear.”

 THE FOUNDERS

The company was founded by two entrepreneurs, Shane and Jan. Jan is an experience graphic/fashion designer who worked for big fashion brands in Canada. He has years of experience and eyes for design. Shane, on the other hand, is a digital marketing expert who experienced working with clients from small local businesses to big e-Commerce brands in North America. Combining both skills and talents, Shane and Jan were able to start and continue grow Ikigai Authentic Clo. Through passion, dedication, and consistency, they believed that the company would continue to grow and achieve its highest purpose.
